2D To 3D Conversion TV
Is 2D To 3D Conversion TV Worth Paying For
If you're in the market for a new 3D TV then one thing you're bound to notice is the number of
2D to 3D conversion sets available to buy. What does this feature really mean? Is it worth the extra cost?
What Does A 2D To 3D Conversion TV Do?
Buying a 2D to 3D TV means that your television will be able to turn standard content into 3D.
The content was made in 2D, but the TV converts it for you. This greatly expands the range of content that you'll
be able to watch in 3D.
If you didn't have the 2D to 3D option, then you'd be limited to content that was originally
designed to be shown in 3D. At present, this means a very small range of movies and TV shows, and maybe some sports
and games on your console. With the conversion option, you can suddenly watch anything you want in 3D, whether it
was meant to be watched this way or not.
There are drawbacks, however, one major one being the price. 2D to 3D conversion requires a lot
more processing power in a television, which means that buying a TV with this option will cost more than a standard
3D TV.
Is 2D To 3D Conversion Necessary?
If it fits in your budget then you may assume that purchasing a 2D to 3D conversion TV will
definitely be worth it. It gives you so much more content to watch, and helps you make the most of the fact that
you now own a 3D TV!
However, things aren't as simple as that. There are certainly flaws with TVs carrying this
feature. Content that's been converted by the TV into 3D rarely looks as good as made-for-3D content. It's a much
poorer quality, which some users won't appreciate. Not to mention the fact that some content just doesn't need 3D
at all. For example, who needs to watch their favorite sitcom in 3D?!
Some alternatives include Blu-Ray players that can do the conversion themselves, but none of the
options are perfect. If you do buy a 2D to 3D conversion TV, just note that it's not the best quality yet.
