These glasses are more expensive but they do mean that 3D images can be shown in a higher resolution. Glasses-Free 3D: There's currently no option for glasses-free 3D, but the technology is expected for release in 2012. What Other Equipment Is Necessary For 3D?Even if you have active or passive 3D glasses, they're not going to work with any old TV set. You must make sure you buy a 3D-ready television if you want to see movies and TV in 3D. On top of this, you'll also need to purchase a Blu-Ray player that can handle movies released in 3D. Normal content on your television isn't usually made to be shown in 3D. In truth, there's a very limited collection of 3D content available at the present time for you to view at home. The good news is that the top 3D sets usually come with 2D to 3D conversion built in – which will transform standard 2D content to 3D. That said, the quality of the content isn't always as good as made-for-3D content.
